Have I really not blogged in a WEEK?! So sorry guys! This week has just been crazy, and combined with this pregnancy that’s currently still kicking my butt, I honestly just haven’t had the energy or the motivation to hop on my computer at night. But, I promise I have lots of drafts in the works and fun baby things to chat about! Taking the week off felt good, so I’m hoping to get back to my regular posting schedule next week.
My parents actually flew into town yesterday to spend a long weekend with us and I couldn’t be more excited! We’re going to spoil Adeline, shop ’till we drop, and make our first baby #2 purchases! It’s going to be especially fun because we found out the gender of our sweet second baby on Monday, and all week we’ve been reflecting on what the results were. Finding out the gender hit me harder than I thought, and made it all the more real. It also made me super emotional over the fact that Adeline will no longer be our only little love, and we’re truly about to rock her world. I also was just honestly shocked and surprised!

BOY!
OH BOY!
Ya’ll, I was totally WRONG! We were both thinking girl, so when our ultrasound tech told us “boy” we both just looked at each other like, “are you kidding?!” I think it took us a couple days to truly comprehend that we’ve got a baby boy on board. We’ve been living in a completely pink world now for 2.5 years so it’s going to such a big change! I always envisioned myself being a girl mom forever, so it’s been quite the shock. Of course, girl is all I’ve known so I’m sure if we’d had a boy first I’d be feeling the same, just opposite.
We really are so excited, still shocked, but excited. More than anything we are so, so thankful that he is healthy and happy as a clam in there and our anatomy scan was definitely the answer to so many prayers. I didn’t realize how much pent up anxiety I had going into the scan, so coming out of it with good news was a huge relief. I’d forgotten how cool it is to get such an up close look at a baby in the womb, and I tried to soak it up! I loved seeing his little legs kick and squirm, and a few times he was quite the stinker and we had to wait for him to move.
I feel so blessed to be able to experience both a girl and a boy, and I’ll never take that for granted. It’s still hard for me to imagine loving another little one the same way I love Adeline, but I’m beginning to embrace the idea of loving them differently. I know the bond between my first will always be different than my second, and the bond between mother and daughter will always be different than the bond between mother and son. I know I’ll love this little guy, and already do. Even though Adeline will always be my baby, I can’t wait to make room in my heart for baby brother!
So, for everyone who guessed BOY, kudos to you because you were way more correct than I was!
