I received the following product for free in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
One of my top priority purchases for baby #2 is a backpack style diaper bag. Something I can sling over my back, and nearly forget about it until I need it. You see, a large, roomy tote-style diaper bag fit the bill perfectly the first time, but by the time she was more mobile and I desperately needed my hands free, I soon realized it was a no-go. We switched to a smaller monogrammed backpack after Adeline’s first birthday that we mainly used as her church bag, and soon found ourselves using it all the time out of convenience. I think something you learn after your first round of motherhood is, “less is more.”
And that rings true with diaper bags! In my opinion, the less bells and whistles the better, and the less of a hassle it is to get in and out of it, the better. With baby #2 on the way, I’m all for simplicity, and ease! I recently received a brand new, soon-to-be released diaper bag from Ethan & Emma and I’m so excited to share it with you today! It’s sleek, it’s roomy, and it’s simple. It basically checks every box, and I’ll for sure be adding it into my diaper bag mix for little man! If Ethan & Emma sounds familiar, you may have seen a previous post featuring their See-Thru Child on Board Sticker. The company prides themselves on making innovative baby products for parents, by parents.
So here is a brief overview of the diaper bag:
For starters, the backpack comes in a soft drawstring bag, keeping it protected from the cardboard box it ships in. A nice touch, for sure! Overall, it’s a great medium size, not too big, not to small, and made of a very lightweight material that feels like it could easily be wiped off and probably water resistant. The zippers are gold, and all zip easily and without snagging. The inside material is a similar water resistant feeling material, or, depending on the compartment, is more of an insulated material. The straps are padded, and comfortable, and there are two stroller hooks perfect for attaching it to a handlebar. Pockets wise, there are a TON. There are 2 large pockets, like the main sections, then several outside pockets, and several interior pockets, including 3 bottle pockets, a clutch type pocket for keys and credit cards, and a few of the smaller pockets have buttons so you can choose to make them larger, or smaller. There’s also a removable changing pad – woo! After going through the bag in detail, my first impression is that it feels well thought out, and theoretically should totally hold everything you need.
Wear wise, it doesn’t feel cumbersome or heavy, and the straps are easy to adjust. They may actually be a little too easy to adjust, which is probably my only complaint. I’m not even sure you can call that a complaint, ha! (Adam’s only complaint was that it needs another pocket designated for ‘tech’ – think a battery pack slot, headphone spot, pen slots, etc. You know, the things tech-y dads carry. I always like to ask for his two cents, because he too will be carrying this around!) I won’t know for sure how it functions until little guy gets here, but after testing it out, I’m feeling pretty confident with it!
I’ll let the pictures do the rest of the tour:
I think the biggest thing it has going for it is that it’s flexible and soft. Some diaper bags are so stiff, and feel like they need to be ‘broken in’, but this one almost feels like that old faithful backpack you already have and love.
I’d say if you’re looking for a simple backpack diaper bag, you should definitely put this one on your radar. I’m pretty picky about my bags – which is why I haven’t actually bought a new one yet! This one though passed my inspection and pickiness, and I think that’s saying a lot!
As soon as this bag is released online, I will let you know! It will retail in the $100+ range, so it’s a good quality investment. Until then, you can check out their pre-launch page to keep an eye out!
What do you look for in a diaper bag or backpack? Did you use a backpack the second time? Do you prefer sleek and simple looks like black or something with a pattern?
