Weekend Recap: How I’m Feeling, Pedis, and Big Bellies

A little bit late, but I wanted to recap our weekend before I forgot. I honestly thought maybe this was going to be THE weekend when everything happened, but to no avail, baby girl stayed put and we are off to another week! A selfish part of me is a little frustrated and feeling impatient, but I know she needs to stay put until at least 39 weeks so she’s 100% full term. I am trying to soak up and enjoy every last minute of this pregnancy, but whew, I am tired! I really feel like these next ~12 days are going to be the ultimate test of my patience, but I know it’s a must! Adeline really needs to stay put a little while longer, but I sure am ready to meet her! At least I think I am. I’m not ready for life to change so drastically, which I still can’t wrap my head around. And with each day that passes I become a little more sad that it’s not just going to be me and Adam anymore. It’s really a strange concept to try and grasp.

Anyways, this weekend I treated myself to a fabulous deluxe pedicure, and it was worth every penny. I would go back today and get it done again if I could, it was that relaxing! I normally don’t splurge for the “next level up” pedicure, but I couldn’t resist. Who knows when I’ll be back! Also, I deserve it. I’ve literally GROWN A HUMAN for the past 38 weeks. NBD.

A sweet little guy did my pedicure, and while I sometimes find men-pedicure-ists to be a little weird, he was excellent! I think it’s kind of like going to get a massage and you get a dude – it’s a little weird, but they are SO much stronger than your typical woman and my feet and ankles were oh so thankful for a little extra strength! He was definitely not shy in asking me all about my obvious bump, including letting me know that it looked like I was for sure carrying an 8 pounder.

I went with an OPI hot pink/purpley/berry color, and I am loving it. I hope it doesn’t go anywhere anytime soon because I need it to stay on until at least after I’ve had her!

Saturday night, we headed out to dinner to celebrate Adam’s birthday (which was actually yesterday) with a feast of tacos and cheese dip at our local fave. We stuffed our bellies, and I think we both enjoyed what may be one of our last date nights. (I’m betting we’ll have another date night this weekend though, but who knows!)

After dinner, we stopped by a small pub close to our house so I could see a few minutes of the TN/AR game. (We don’t have cable, or else I’d watch it at home.) I’ve been waiting to see this match up for a few years now and when I heard they were finally playing each other again I knew I had to watch! I grew up a Vols fan, but since living in AR I’ve morphed into a Hogs fan. And, Adeline is about to be a true Arkansan, so naturally, I had to cheer against my roots and go for AR. And much to my surprise, they WON!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday we headed to church, then ran a few errands afterwards before I realized I needed to lay down and just relax. I felt really “fever-ish” and just worn down, so I spent the night tucked away on the couch, watching Revenge from the very beginning on Netflix. I’m feeling better now, I must have just been starting to fight a little bug off. Yesterday I was able to take a short walk outside, and the fresh air seemed to also help. It was a beautiful day, only about 70 degrees, and if I wasn’t hauling a pumpkin around with me I could have walked forever.

And here we are at yet another week. I’m trying to get through the week day-by-day now, with hopes that the week goes by quickly. Each day that passes means we’re one step closer to meeting Adeline and she’s one day healthier!!

Before I go, I’ve noticed that I’ve officially hit the mark in pregnancy where I get all sorts of comments. It’s really hilarious. Here are a few that stood out more recently:

-(At Sam’s Club) “If you have it here, will you name it like, Sam or Samantha? You’re kind of scaring me. Be careful!”

-“Giiirrrl you is pregnant! You got twins in there?!”

-“You’re about to pop.”

-“You look like you’re smuggling a basketball!”

-“You’re definitely having a boy, I can tell by how round you are.”

-“Might I suggest a name? Aliyah is nice. That’s what I would name it.”

And my favorite/not-so-favorite because I don’t understand why it even matters to anyone other than Adam or I…

-“Are you getting an epidural?!”

Have a great rest of your day! I’m hoping to share a quick review of my diaper bag at some point, so check back!

Did you receive funny comments? What were they? Did you treat yourself to a pedicure? How do you help pass time when you’re just waiting?
