Here we are, cruising into week 39! A part of me wanted him to make his appearance by now but the logical part of me is super thankful he has stayed put just a little longer. It truly is a major blessing to be able to carry a baby to term.
As I write this, I’m actually waiting at our 39 week appointment, while multi-tasking and knocking out some work, of course. I’m crossing my fingers and toes that our doctor says we’ve made more progress. I’m going to beg for a membrane sweep, and maybe some voodoo magic while she’s down there.
MAYBE this will be my last update? We are praying he comes before his due date, at least mainly for Adeline’s sake. All of the family we have down here will be out of state traveling to a wedding the 5 days surrounding our due date. We have plenty of church friends who have offered to help with Adeline, but I’m honestly just worried about how Adeline will do sleeping somewhere so unfamiliar – especially with how difficult bedtime at her own house has been! I’m praying the good Lord sends us this baby before they all leave town! But if not, everything will work out and I’m sure Adeline will do just fine. I’m sure it’s just my inner-first-time-mom-soon-to-be-second-time-mom freaking out.
Physically, I’m done. I’m over it. This pregnancy has kicked my butt from the very beginning and I’m honestly at the end of my rope. Talk about a trial in endurance!

Aversions
- Nothing really comes to mind but I know there have been things!
Feeling Like: Ya’ll, I don’t even know how I’m feeling! I think honestly most of my ‘feels’ I’ve repressed because I’m in denial that we’re actually about to have another baby. It’s a big stinkin’ deal and it kind of freaks me out to think about it too much! Are we really ready for this?? I think because this pregnancy has been so rough on me, the pregnancy itself has been what I’ve been focusing on, and not so much on this huge change that’s coming AFTER the pregnancy. It’s still crazy to think that in just a few DAYS we’ll become a family of four, and both our lives, and Adeline’s life are about to change drastically. And that’s definitely something I don’t take lightly. Now that we’re getting so close though, I am really just SO excited to experience labor and delivery again, and meet this little guy face to face! I’m hoping and praying that the second time around isn’t as hard emotionally and mentally, but I know I’m in for some major hormone shifts again.
Memories
- Got our maternity photos back!
- Swimming with Adeline
- Celebrated Adam’s grandpa’s 90th birthday
- 37 and 38 week appointment – both appointments were great, low blood pressure, baby’s heart rate was perfect, dilated to 3 cm and 70% effaced both times
- 37 week ultrasound – last time seeing his sweet little profile!
- Waffle House family dates with Adeline
Gender: BOY!
Movement: So much movement! Baby boy has been moving and grooving and kicking and punching like crazy. Some of his movements are painful to be honest. It feels like he’s going to rip my belly open at times!
Exercise: The highs during these two weeks were well over 100, so my walks were pretty few and far between. I tried to walk our stairs a few times, and I maybe got 2 or 3 short walks in overall. But because of the heat, I was honestly hesitant to spend much time outside to begin with. Towards the end of week 38 I was able to start walking more though as the highs “cooled” off!
Soon, sweet boy. Soon! We can’t wait to meet you, and know you are going to make the perfect addition to our family – filling a hole we never knew we needed to fill.
Thank you to everyone who’s followed along this far!
